About NMSI

NMSI exists to engage, prepare and support people to proclaim Christ and make disciples globally.

A mission agency founded in 1989, NMSI began with one family’s dream to assist Russian pastors in planting churches and discipling new believers.  In the first ten years, NMSI and its vision grew to six U.S. families serving overseas and several national pastors serving in Kenya, Russia and Zimbabwe.  God has used NMSI’s unique approach to ministry.  By the end of the second decade, NMSI was serving 150 missionaries in 23 countries fulfilling their individual calling to cross-cultural ministry.  By God’s grace and the dedication of over 200 NMSI missionaries and over several thousand faithful supporters, the vision and mission of NMSI to transform lives and communities continues to expand.

NMSI in a nutshell

What’s in a name?

Our name reflects our philosophy of ministry.  Each word was chosen for a purpose and for the meaning it brings to who we are.

NEW:  We live in a world that is constantly changing.  Our strategies must constantly adapt to the changing world in order for us to remain effective ministers of God’s grace.  The unchanging mandate of preaching the Gospel challenges us to always be new.

MISSION: Mission is God’s work in reconciling the world to Himself.  Missions is how we go about participating in the Mission of God.  Mission and missions are at the very center of life at NMSI.

SYSTEMS:  This has to do with approach.  We use a systems analysis approach.  In each situation God brings before us, we evaluate the cultural, linguistic, economic, religious and political factors which will impact how the Gospel moves through a society.  We look at the available personnel, local resources, and what God seems to be doing to design a unique plan for each situation.

INTERNATIONAL:  God desires that ALL people come to Him.  He is not bound by any geographic or demographic boundary.  God is infinitely creative in His abilities to reach all peoples.
